Updated for August 2026 and Devoid of Liberty
Helldivers 2 now has enough Warbonds that deciding where to spend your first few thousand Super Credits can be more confusing than choosing a loadout.
The good news is that Warbonds do not expire. Once purchased, they remain available for you to unlock at your own pace. Standard Premium Warbonds generally cost 1,000 Super Credits, while Legendary crossover Warbonds cost 1,500.
The bad news is that their value varies dramatically.
Some Warbonds contain equipment that can fundamentally change how you build a Helldiver. Others provide one excellent weapon surrounded by situational gear. A few are mainly worth buying once you already own the essentials.
For new and returning players, the goal should therefore be:
Unlock Warbonds that expand the number of strong loadouts you can build, not simply the ones with the coolest cosmetics.
Here is the current priority list.
Tier 1: Buy These First
1. Democratic Detonation
Priority: Essential
If you only have enough Super Credits for one Premium Warbond, Democratic Detonation remains the safest first purchase.
Current Warbond rankings continue to place it at S+, with four major highlights:
-
R-36 Eruptor
-
CB-9 Explosive Crossbow
-
GP-31 Grenade Pistol
-
G-123 Thermite
U.GG currently describes it as offering the best overall value of any Warbond.
The important part isn't simply that these items are powerful. They unlock capabilities in unusual equipment slots.
The Grenade Pistol gives your secondary weapon structural demolition and explosive utility.
Thermite gives the throwable slot serious anti-armor capability and currently ranks S+ against Automatons, Terminids, and Illuminate.
The Eruptor and Crossbow can destroy structures while serving as powerful explosive primaries. The Eruptor in particular has remained one of the strongest cross-faction primaries.
That flexibility opens up builds such as:
Eruptor + Bolt Pistol + Stalwart
or:
Coyote + Grenade Pistol + Recoilless Rifle
or:
Crossbow + Talon + Cremator
Democratic Detonation doesn't merely give you good weapons.
It makes other loadouts possible.
Verdict
Best first Warbond for most new players.
2. Control Group
Priority: Essential
Control Group is arguably the best Warbond to purchase early if you value mobility and unusual stratagems.
Its major unlocks include:
The standout is the Warp Pack.
Unlike a conventional Jump Pack, the Warp Pack allows repeated short-range teleports, with each jump gradually destabilizing the device.
U.GG currently rates the Warp Pack S+ against all three factions, making it one of the strongest backpack options in the game.
That has obvious combat applications, but it's also extremely useful for players farming maps, exploring points of interest, running objectives, or escaping a fight that has become strategically pointless.
The Epoch also gives you a strong anti-armor support option, while the Variable provides a flexible experimental primary.
Verdict
One of the best second purchases after Democratic Detonation.
Mobility-focused players could reasonably buy this first.
3. Dust Devils
Priority: Extremely High
Dust Devils deserves far more attention than many older Warbond guides give it.
Its centerpiece is the AR-2 Coyote, one of the strongest conventional rifles currently available.
U.GG's latest pre-7.0 weapon testing rated the Coyote:
-
A vs Automatons
-
S+ vs Terminids
-
S+ vs Illuminate
That makes it particularly valuable for a player who wants an excellent everyday rifle rather than an unusual explosive or plasma weapon.
Dust Devils also gives you the Solo Silo, which provides another serious anti-tank option, alongside its Desert Stormer armor sets. U.GG placed the Warbond itself in S+ prior to Devoid of Liberty.
Verdict
Excellent early purchase if you want a powerful conventional rifle and additional AT options.
4. Servants of Freedom
Priority: Extremely High
Servants of Freedom is another Warbond that greatly expands loadout construction.
Its major attractions include the GP-20 Ultimatum and Portable Hellbomb, and U.GG rated the Warbond S+ in its July 2026 rankings.
The Ultimatum is particularly important because it moves serious anti-armor firepower into your secondary slot.
That lets you run combinations such as:
conventional primary + Ultimatum + Grenade Launcher
or:
Crossbow + Ultimatum + Bullet Storm
without requiring every heavy threat to be solved by your support weapon.
Verdict
Fantastic for players who want explosive and heavy-target flexibility.
I would prioritize it after Democratic Detonation and Control Group unless you specifically want the Ultimatum.
Tier 1.5: Castellan's Creed
5. Castellan's Creed
Priority: Excellent, but expensive
The new Warhammer 40,000: Castellan's Creed Legendary Warbond arrived on August 12, 2026 and costs 1,500 Super Credits rather than the normal 1,000.
It contains:
The early standout is clearly the Bolt Pistol.
Current players are already finding it useful across factions, particularly as a high-impact secondary that can solve targets conventional pistols struggle against. The Meltagun is also receiving strong early feedback as a devastating close-range anti-armor support weapon.
Then there is True Grit, which improves weapon handling and significantly speeds support-weapon reloads. That can materially change the feel of equipment such as the Autocannon or Recoilless Rifle.
U.GG's August list currently places Castellan's Creed in S tier, highlighting the Meltagun, True Grit armor, and Melta Mine.
So why isn't it #1?
Price and breadth.
A new player spending 1,500 SC on Castellan's Creed gets some excellent equipment, but Democratic Detonation or Control Group unlocks more fundamental loadout-building tools for only 1,000 SC.
Verdict
Outstanding Warbond for returning players.
For a brand-new player:
Democratic Detonation first, then seriously consider Castellan's Creed.
For a veteran with most of the essentials already unlocked:
Castellan's Creed moves near the top of the list.
Tier 2: Strong Purchases
Polar Patriots
Priority: High
Older Warbond guides frequently tell players to skip Polar Patriots.
That advice is badly outdated.
The primary reason is the PLAS-101 Purifier.
Current weapon testing places the Purifier at S+ against Automatons, Terminids, and Illuminate, with extremely strong charged AoE and rapid uncharged single-target output.
Polar Patriots also includes:
-
G-13 Incendiary Impact
-
P-113 Verdict
-
Tenderizer
-
Motivational Shocks
The Incendiary Impact grenade currently performs particularly well against Bugs and Illuminate.
U.GG consequently ranks the Warbond S tier, not low tier.
Verdict
Do not skip Polar Patriots in 2026.
It has aged extremely well.
Siege Breakers
Priority: High
Siege Breakers is ideal for players who like heavy equipment and aggressive breaching.
Its standout equipment includes:
U.GG currently places Siege Breakers in S tier.
This isn't necessarily the Warbond I'd hand to a level-five player, but once you understand Helldivers' basic combat loop, it opens several very different heavy-weapons builds.
Verdict
Excellent early-to-mid progression Warbond for heavy-weapons players.
Exo Experts
Priority: High if you enjoy support weapons or mechs
Exo Experts contains a surprisingly large amount of useful equipment:
-
MGX-42 Bullet Storm
-
P-33 Missile Pistol
-
SMG-203 Gallant
-
EXO-51 Lumberer
-
EXO-55 Breakthrough
The Bullet Storm has become particularly relevant against the current Illuminate because sustained high-volume fire works extremely well against several of the new enemy types.
The Missile Pistol also gives another way to push utility into your secondary slot.
Verdict
Strong Warbond with several genuinely different toys.
Especially good for returning players looking for new playstyles.
Redacted Regiment
Priority: High for stealth/objective players
Redacted Regiment is less universally useful than Democratic Detonation, but it unlocks an entire style of play.
Highlights include:
-
R-72 Censor
-
C4 Pack
-
stealth-oriented armor
-
demolition equipment
U.GG ranks it S and specifically highlights the Censor, stealth armor, and C4.
This enables the kind of saboteur build where you avoid unnecessary engagements, infiltrate bases, destroy the objective, and disappear.
Verdict
One of the best purchases if you want Helldivers to play differently rather than simply deal more damage.
Tier 3: Excellent Playstyle Warbonds
These aren't bad Warbonds.
They're simply more dependent on what you enjoy playing.
Borderline Justice
Priority: Very good
Borderline Justice gives you:
-
LAS-58 Talon
-
R-6 Deadeye
-
TED-63 Dynamite
-
Hover Pack
-
Gunslinger armor
The Talon is the star.
Current testing rates it:
-
S vs Automatons
-
S vs Terminids
-
S+ vs Illuminate
It's essentially a secondary capable of behaving like a small primary weapon, which makes it fantastic alongside Eruptors, DMRs, explosives, or other weapons with awkward close-range handling.
Dynamite is also strong, while the Hover Pack introduces another unusual mobility option.
Verdict
Excellent once you already own your foundational Warbonds.
Gunslinger players can move it higher.
Freedom's Flame
Priority: Strong specialist
Freedom's Flame includes:
-
SG-451 Cookout
-
FLAM-66 Torcher
-
P-72 Crisper
-
fire-resistant armor
-
Fiery Drop booster
One correction worth emphasizing: Freedom's Flame does not contain a health booster. Its booster is Fiery Drop, which sets the Hellpod landing area on fire.
The Warbond has nevertheless become more interesting in the current meta.
The Torcher currently ranks S+ against Illuminate, while the Crisper also rates S+ against Illuminate.
Cookout remains an enjoyable Terminid shotgun as well.
Verdict
Buy it if you want to become a Firediver.
Not essential for everyone, but extremely good at what it does.
Cutting Edge
Priority: Useful specialist
Cutting Edge contains:
-
LAS-16 Sickle
-
SG-8P Punisher Plasma
-
ARC-12 Blitzer
-
G-23 Stun Grenade
-
LAS-7 Dagger
-
arc-resistant armor
One important correction:
The Arc Thrower does not come from Cutting Edge.
It is a normal support weapon unlocked through the Patriotic Administration Center.
Cutting Edge is still useful.
The Blitzer remains excellent against Terminids, and Stun Grenades continue to have strong utility against Bots and Bugs.
The Sickle is still perfectly usable, but it is no longer enough by itself to make Cutting Edge an automatic first purchase.
Verdict
Good Warbond, but no longer essential.
Buy it for Blitzer/Stun/energy builds.
Urban Legends
Priority: Better than its reputation
Calling Urban Legends a cosmetic-only Warbond undersells it.
The Anti-Tank Emplacement currently rates:
-
S+ vs Automatons
-
S vs Terminids
-
S+ vs Illuminate
It also contains Armed Resupply Pods and Siege Ready armor.
That makes Urban Legends highly relevant to defensive, engineer, or emplacement-oriented playstyles.
Verdict
Not a first purchase, but definitely not a skip.
Entrenched Division
Priority: Good specialist
Its major attractions are the Cremator Flamethrower and Stoker SMG. U.GG currently places the overall Warbond in A tier.
This is another good choice for players who want aggressive close-range combat rather than generic rifle gameplay.
Verdict
Buy for the playstyle, not because every account needs it.
Tier 4: Buy for Specific Items
Steeled Veterans
The standout remains the P-4 Senator, alongside the Dominator and Incendiary Grenade.
The Senator is still an excellent sidearm, particularly against Automatons.
The Dominator remains viable as well.
But Democratic Detonation, Control Group, Dust Devils and several newer Warbonds simply provide more account-wide value.
Verdict
Still good. No longer an early must-buy.
Truth Enforcers
Truth Enforcers includes the:
-
PLAS-15 Loyalist
-
SMG-32 Reprimand
-
SG-20 Halt
-
Unflinching armor
-
Dead Sprint booster
The Loyalist is genuinely excellent, currently rating A/S/S+ across the three factions.
But the Warbond as a whole is more of a collection of good niche pieces than a foundational unlock.
Verdict
Buy it for Loyalist, Reprimand, or the aesthetic.
Chemical Agents
Chemical Agents remains niche, but it has one very important piece:
Gas Grenade.
Current testing gives Gas:
-
A vs Bots
-
S vs Bugs
-
S+ vs Illuminate
So the Warbond is not useless. It simply makes sense primarily for players specifically interested in gas/control builds.
Verdict
Specialist purchase.
Lowest Priority
Force of Law
Force of Law's main current highlight is the De-Escalator, but its overall package remains relatively specialized. U.GG currently puts it in C tier.
Verdict
Buy later unless you specifically want its equipment or theme.
Masters of Ceremony
Masters of Ceremony offers the Amendment rifle, Pyrotech Grenade, Sample Scanner, and ceremonial equipment.
Pyrotech is actually a respectable throwable, especially against Automatons.
But the total package remains comparatively low priority, with U.GG ranking the Warbond C.
Verdict
Completionist or playstyle purchase rather than progression priority.
Legendary Crossovers: Buy Carefully
Halo: ODST
The Halo Legendary Warbond costs 1,500 Super Credits and includes Halo-inspired suppressed weapons and Feet First armor.
The problem is opportunity cost.
U.GG's July rankings had Halo: ODST in D tier, while its weapons generally sit below the strongest alternatives currently available.
Verdict
Buy because you love Halo, not because a new account needs it.
Killzone / Righteous Revenants
The Killzone-themed Legendary offering has a similar problem.
There are useful pieces, including the Accelerator Rifle, but its 1,500-Super-Credit cost makes it difficult to recommend over multiple stronger 1,000-SC Premium Warbonds.
U.GG's pre-7.0 rankings placed Righteous Revenants in D tier.
Verdict
Luxury/crossover purchase.
Recommended Purchase Order for New Players
If you're starting Helldivers 2 today and want maximum gameplay value from your Super Credits, a strong general order is:
-
Democratic Detonation
-
Control Group
-
Dust Devils
-
Servants of Freedom
-
Polar Patriots
-
Castellan's Creed
-
Siege Breakers
-
Exo Experts
-
Redacted Regiment
-
Borderline Justice
After that, stop worrying about a universal ranking.
Start buying around the playstyle you enjoy.
Want fire?
Freedom's Flame.
Want arc/control?
Cutting Edge.
Want emplacement warfare?
Urban Legends.
Want gas?
Chemical Agents.
Want a cowboy secondary and mobility?
Borderline Justice.
Want stealth?
Redacted Regiment.
Want giant mechanized toys?
Exo Experts.
Recommended Purchase Order for Returning Players
Returning players are in a different position because you may already own Democratic Detonation, Cutting Edge, Steeled Veterans, and the other early Warbonds.
In that case, I'd prioritize newer equipment that actually changes how you can build:
-
Control Group
-
Dust Devils
-
Castellan's Creed
-
Servants of Freedom
-
Siege Breakers
-
Exo Experts
-
Redacted Regiment
-
Polar Patriots
Castellan's Creed moves significantly higher here because a veteran is much more likely to already possess Grenade Pistol, Thermite, Crossbow, and other foundational tools.
At that point, getting the Bolt Pistol, Meltagun, and True Grit armor provides something genuinely new rather than covering capabilities you don't yet have.
The Short Version
If you don't want to think about twenty-plus Warbonds:
Buy Democratic Detonation first.
Then:
Control Group for mobility.
Dust Devils for the Coyote and strong general-purpose equipment.
Servants of Freedom for Ultimatum and explosive flexibility.
Polar Patriots for the Purifier.
Castellan's Creed if you can justify 1,500 SC for an excellent secondary, support weapon, and armor passive.
